Bhubaneswar: In September this year, the state transport authority collected Rs 117 crore in motor vehicle revenue. In August this year, it had a revenue of Rs 7.5 crore. In September, 31 per cent more revenue was collected than in August. However, this year’s revenue is 8 per cent lower than the Rs 124 crore in September last year. During the period from April to September this year, the revenue of motor vehicles was Rs 501 crore, which is 39 per cent less than the Rs 7 crore it had been during the same period last year. Jharsuguda earned Rs 3.34 crore from mining, while Rs 4.6 crore from Kendujhar, Rs 4.8 crore from Rourkela, Rs 4.8 crore from Sundergarh and Rs 2.4 crore from Talcher. In all of these areas, more revenue was collected in September this year than in September last year. From September 2018, Rs 2.34 crore was earned from Jharsuguda, Rs 5.24 crore from Kendujhar, Rs 4.6 crore from Rourkela, Rs 2.22 crore from Sundergarh and Rs 2.13 crore from Talcher. Revenue was severely affected after the incident. The country gradually moved towards Andhra Pradesh after the lockdown was in force in two phases until May 3. Since June, the state’s motor vehicle revenue has been steadily rising. Revenues were 15% lower in June this year, 16% lower in July and 20% lower in August compared to June last year. But on September 9, there was a significant improvement. The state transport authority said motor vehicle revenue had increased as more vehicles were sold and economic activity increased.
