KOLKATA: State politics is in full swing as West Bengal politics is now at loggerheads. BJP leader Shuvendu Adhikari accepted the challenge after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced her candidature from Nandigram today. Mamata has challenged Shuvendu by mega rallying in Shuvendu’s fort Nandigram, while Shuvendu’s fort has accepted the challenge by holding Shuvendu Road Show in south Kolkata. “In Nandigram, I will lose Mamata by more than 50,000 votes, or I will quit politics,” Shuvendu said. “Nandigram introduced Mamata to politics, but she has not done anything for the region,” he said. In South Kolkata, a BJP-led road show from Taliganj Tram Depot to Rasbihari Mod was being held today by the BJP led by Shuvendu officials. As the procession progressed, grassroots supporters pelted stones near Mudiali. The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a crowd of protesters, including grassroots activists. Six people were injured, and police are investigating. Ahead of the Assembly elections, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made the move. Addressing a public meeting held at Nandigram in Gad Nandigram today, the party announced that it would contest its traditional Bhawanipur constituency and Nandigram assembly constituency.
