According to the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CM8II), a private sector firm, the number of people employed in January reached 40.06 crore. As of December 2020, their number was 38.8 crore. With more than 12 million new jobs created in January, the country’s employment rate has risen, while the unemployment rate has dropped to 7.5%. Last December, the unemployment rate was as high as 7.1 percent. In the last six months, the unemployment rate has risen from 7.5% to 6.1%. Between August 2020 and January 2021, the average unemployment rate was 7.5%. Lockdown did not create more than 5 million jobs in a single month. But for the first time, the number of jobs has doubled in January this year, said Mahesh Beas, CEO of CM9E. Surprisingly, 11.3 million people were unemployed last December. As of January 8, more than 12 million new jobs have been created at full interest. In January, people with technical and specialized skills were given priority in employment. Infrastructure companies and fundraising startups have made significant contributions to employment growth. Despite this, the number of unemployed people in the country is about 3 crore. Of these, 27.6 million are looking for jobs, while others are not paying much attention to finding jobs.
