Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kerala on Tuesday to inaugurate three major scientific units of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). The Prime Minister visited the Vikram Sarabhai Space Center (VSSC) in Thiruvananthapuram. During his visit to VSSC, Prime Minister Modi also reviewed the Gaganyaan human space flight program and met the astronauts involved in the Gaganyaan mission. It is believed that the names of astronauts going into space under the Gaganyaan project may be revealed today.
In his address, the Prime Minister said, today we are all witnessing a historic journey. Some time ago, the country was introduced to its four space travelers for the first time. These are not just 4 names and 4 persons, these are 4 energies that carry 140 million desires into space. After 40 years, an Indian is going to go to space. But this time the time is ours, the countdown is ours and the rocket is ours.
He met the astronauts of Gagnayan mission in Kerala and said that this time is also our time. He said that today’s children are lucky.

The names of the astronauts of the space mission have been announced. The Prime Minister on Tuesday announced the names of four astronauts who will be training for the country’s first manned space flight mission, Gaganyaan. During his visit to the Vikram Sarabhai Space Center (VSSC) at Thamba near Thiruvananthapuram, he inaugurated three major space infrastructure projects of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).
Prashant Balkrishnan Nair, Angad Pratap, Ajith Krishnan and Shubshanshu Shukla Gagnayan are the selected astronauts for the mission, he said at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre. He presented ‘Astronaut Wings’ to these four. During this period, the Prime Minister also reviewed ISRO’s Gaganyaan human space flight programme. Prime Minister Modi along with Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and External Affairs Minister V Muralidharan visited the exhibition of various ISR projects at VSSC.
