Kolkata: In the run-up to the 2021 West Bengal elections, the audacity for Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is on the rise. Trinamool Congress MLA and Asansol Nagar Corporation Chairman Jitendra Tiwari today resigned as MLA after Transport Minister Shuvendu Adhikari yesterday. It is rumored that he will join the BJP on the 19th after resigning from the party. The day before, Jitendra targeted the state government. He questioned the cost of grants coming from the center to the state. He said the Asansol Nagar Nigam was not being funded by the state government for the state government’s politics. Due to Mamata Banerjee’s politics, the Rs 2,000 crore given to the Asansol Municipal Corporation by the central government could not be invested. The grant was given by the central government for the development of smart cities. “I have written to the minister five times, but no reply has been forthcoming. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah will visit West Bengal on the 19th,” he said. Earlier, a TMC minister and a legislator resigned from the party, and it is speculated that they may join the BJP on the 16th in the presence of Amit Shah.
