Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has asked the banks to provide the required loans to agriculture, self-help groups (SHHGGs) and small, medium and medium enterprises (MS4MEs) in three major sectors of the state. “I want to see for myself what the flow of debt is to these three key sectors,” he said, taking part in the 160th meeting of the state-level bankers’ committee. He said the district-level review would be done by the chief minister himself by the end of November. The review is expected to be conducted by the district commissioner and bank officials. Addressing a virtual conference for the first time in view of the corona epidemic, the Chief Minister said that the best performing bank would be awarded the Chief Minister’s Award as the Champion Bank. The chief minister will inform the finance minister about the bank’s performance. “Doctors play an important role in saving lives, while banks play a key role in saving lives,” he said. The Chief Minister hopes that in this difficult situation, banks will come forward to help the poor, women, farmers and MS4MEs.
