Bhubaneswar: The state government today hiked bus fares due to rising oil prices. Normal and express bus fares have been increased by 1 paise per kilometer and deluxe and AC deluxe bus fares have been increased by 2 paise per kilometer. According to the information received, the usual bus fare per km has been increased from 42 paise per km to 73 paise per km. Express bus fares have been hiked from Rs 75 to Rs 7 per km, deluxe bus fares from Rs 1,05 to Rs 1,04 and AC deluxe bus fares from Rs 1,28 to Rs 1,27. Since September 2017, petrol and diesel prices have hit record highs in the last two years. In Mumbai, petrol has gone up by Rs 80 and diesel by Rs 80. Similarly, in Bhubaneswar, petrol prices have gone up by Rs 7 and diesel by Rs 80 after a long hiatus. In Bhubaneswar, petrol prices were hiked by 28 paise per liter on Sunday compared to last Saturday, while diesel prices were hiked by 31 paise per liter. The state transport department has increased bus fares in view of rising diesel prices.
