Dubai: Chennai Super Kings (CS4K) -Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday were sharply criticized for pressuring Chennai captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni to change the decision on umpire Paul Riffle. CS4K fast bowler Sardul Thakur bowled his 17th over to Hyderabad batsman Rashid Khan in the 19th over while off-duty. It was suddenly stopped when he raised his arm to call it the Riffle Wide. Dhoni, who has experience in playing 35 Tests for Australia, raised both arms over his shoulders and gave a wide-ranging signal, as Dhoni began to protest. He even pressured her to change her mind. The umpire then appeared to have changed his mind. This was not easily accepted by commentators and the former West Indies international fast bowler Ian Bishop. Riphel said he changed his mind and made a big mistake. “She was released this morning; she’s talked to her father and she’s fine. “Looking up, he saw Dhoni and changed his mind,” Bishop said. “I urge the umpires to take care of the referees as it is very difficult to manage cricket matches. “However, I would like to say that the referee made a mistake in the incident on Tuesday night,” Bishop said. Hyderabad captain David Warner also seemed unhappy with Rifle’s change of heart. Although CSK won the match by a margin of 20 runs, criticism of Dhoni’s activities continued on social media. Various fans have been reluctant to condemn Dhoni on social media. Some other fans were also critical of umpire Refel as he bowed to Dhoni’s pressure. Dhoni forcibly entered the field and argued with the umpire over the umpiring decision during the IPL last year. He was fined 50 percent of the match.
