Anil Mahant’s wife from Sharishua village has not been able to become a mother for many years. Khairi Mahanta, 45, the wife of Madhu Mahanta of the village, was worried that Anil would not have children because of the gunfire. The two families have been at loggerheads at various times over this. At 5pm yesterday, Anil and his brother Balaram came on a motorcycle and fled Khairi’s neck with a sharp weapon in the village street. Khairi died on the spot due to excessive bleeding. Police and IIC Reena reached Bakla village and confiscated the body after Madhu and villagers reported the matter to Sarat police station. A murder case has been registered at the police station in this regard. Today, Kaptipada sub-division SDPO Kedarnath Sahu conducted the investigation with the help of the scientific team and search dogs. Police are still trying to apprehend Anil and Balaram Ferrari.
