Bhubaneswar: Car sales in the state have improved rapidly. In August this year, 3,757 cars were sold, which is only 2 percent less than in August last year. A total of 3,734 cars were sold in the state in August 2016. A total of 34,353 vehicles were sold in Odisha in August this year. Of these, 32,195 are scooters and motorcycles, 5,585 are three-wheelers, 1,114 are commercial vehicles, 3,654 are cars and 1,930 are tractors. Sales of tractors increased by 40.75 per cent year-on-year, according to a report released today by the Federation of Automobile Dealers’ Associations (FADA). According to FADA, the state sold 26.03 per cent less vehicles in August this year than in August last year. In August 2016, 55,953 vehicles were sold in the state.
Among them were 45,555 scooters and motorcycles, 14 three-wheelers, 293 commercial vehicles, 3,734 cars and 1,230 tractors. In August this year, sales of two-wheelers fell by 29.38 percent, tricycle sales by 4.01 percent and commercial vehicles by 42.06 percent. At the national level, 29.61 per cent less vehicles were sold in August this year. Two-wheeler sales fell 28.71 percent, three-wheeler sales fell 7.51 percent, commercial vehicle sales fell 56.38 percent and car sales fell 4.12 percent. This year, 29.90 more tractors were sold across the country than last year. As of August 2020, a total of 11,98 vehicles have been sold in the country.
