Bhubaneswar: The AICC has appointed Dr Chela Kumar to replace Jitendra Singh, in-charge of the state Congress. This was stated in a press release issued by the All India Congress Committee. Prior to the 2014 general election, Jitendra Singh was in charge of the Congress. At the time, however, the Congress did worse than expected from opinion polls, which saw them at gaining about a third of the support. And since then, the Congress has changed its mind. Now with the change of focus, there will be no change in the organization of the state.
The big thing is that the Congress has made a lot of changes not only at the Odisha organization but also at the national level. While some senior leaders have been excluded from the party’s various committees, there have been major changes in the CWC, which sets out the Congress’ biggest policy. Two important aspects of Odisha were that Ramchandra Khuntia was excluded from the committee, while Bhakta Charan Das, a former MP from Kalahandi and a senior Congress leader, was included in the list of permanent invited members. The Congress did the most disappointing in the 2014 panchayat elections and the 2014 elections. For the first time in the history of Odisha politics, the party slipped to No. 3. In the panchayat elections, the BJP pushed the Congress to third place, while in the 2014 general elections, the BJP ousted the Congress for the first time in the state. Which exposed the weaknesses of the Congress at the organizational level.
