Bhubaneswar: The state’s economy is showing signs of advancing by preventing the effects of the Karona epidemic. The state has seen an increase in revenue collection in November this year. In November this year, Rs 28,611.26 crore was collected in taxes, which is 6% more than last year’s revenue of Rs 24,802 crore. Non-tax revenue of Rs 10.42 crore during the period was 23.27% higher than the Rs 75 crore figure of November last year. As of November, budget spending in various infrastructure, social, agricultural and theoretical areas has reached around Rs 80,000 crore in terms of lockdowns and shutdowns. A meeting of the secretaries chaired by Chief Secretary Asit Tripathi at the Lok Seba Bhavan today revealed the progress being made in the state’s economy. The Chief Secretary directed the government to focus on how to invest in the budget as soon as possible. He encouraged ordinary people as well to take part in solving this great task: “One of the things you and other people can do is keep up the pressure … there are going to be some difficult decisions for government”. Suresh Chandra Mohapatra of the Development Commission has asked for a regular review of the work of the Ombudsman and DM4F projects. According to the meeting, various projects worth about Rs 20,000 crore are underway in mineral-rich districts like Anugul, Jaipur, Jharsuguda, Kendujhar, Koraput, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada and Sundergarh. The secretariats were asked to prioritize projects in the areas of water resources, rural development, public works, housing and urban development.
