Kolkata: Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee has questioned the commission’s decision after the Election Commission today announced that the West Bengal Assembly elections would be held in eight phases from March 28 to April 28. If Assam polls can be conducted in three phases and Tamil Nadu in one phase, why would polls be held in eight phases in West Bengal? He complained that the decision was taken at the discretion of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in particular. Has this been done to facilitate their preaching? So that they can end the campaign in Assam and Tamil Nadu before coming to West Bengal? However, this cannot help the BJP. “We will demolish them,” Mamata Banerjee told a news conference in Kolkata.
