Hinjilicut: A married woman named Jharajeshwari Sahu, 22, was allegedly killed by her in-laws this evening for dowry in Hinjilikatu police station’s Sompur village. After the father of the deceased, Vijay Sahu, handed over the case to the Hinjilicut police station, the police filed a case under case number 401 and launched an investigation. According to the complaint, Rajeshwari, daughter of Vijay Sahu of Baliguda in Kandhamal district, married Vikari, son of Ramhari Sahu, a resident of Rajasahi in Hinjilicut, in April last year. According to the claim, 5 gold jewelery, Rs 1 lakh and other furniture were given as dowry. However, her in-laws repeatedly harassed Rajeshwari for demanding more dowry. This afternoon, Rajeshwari committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope around his neck. Rajeshwari was pronounced dead at Hinjilicut Hospital. The body will be sent to Berhampur for autopsy tomorrow, police official Abhimanyu Das said. Rajeshwari’s father, Vijay Thana, has been accused of killing himself. Rajeshwari’s father-in-law, Ramhari, on the other hand, said he had committed suicide out of frustration that he had gone out with his scooter. Police are awaiting the report.
