Bhubaneswar: Odisha has done well in the export preparation list of states released by the Policy Commission in 2020. Odisha is ranked among the top five states in the country. Odisha is in fifth place with a score of 54.23. Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan are in the top four. The policies, business environment, export infrastructure and export performance of the states were taken into account to determine the export preparation rankings of the states. A total of 55 types of criteria have been awarded to the states. Odisha has scored 100 in many criteria. A valid policy, marketing assistance, product quality standards and standards, areas of importance for exports, appointment of full-time export commissions, state-central coordination cell system, grievance redressal system, access to international markets, labor reform, Odisha has scored 100 in terms of knowledge, information portal for exporters, skills building / orientation workshops and NABABL lab ratio. In the export policy category, Odisha has a total score of 6.25, in the institutional system 54.32, in the business environment 55.61, in the infrastructure 8.7, in the transport connection 53.51, in the export environment 45.6, in trade assistance 41.18, in research and development. Odisha has a score of 55.17, an export score of 72.27 and an export score of 6.06.The 2020 rankings are presented in four categories: coastal, Himalayan, landlocked and Union Territory / Urban States. Odisha is in the category of coastal states. At present, the contribution of five states to exports from the country is 40 per cent. Those states are Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana. The report outlines the importance of exports for economic development. The report cites examples of how Japan, South Korea and Singapore have succeeded in enriching the economy by adopting export-based strategies.
