Bhubaneswar: In the 2017-18 financial year, the state government lost Rs 75.18 crore in tax and non-tax revenue. The data came to light during the CAG audit. According to the CAG report presented to the Legislative Assembly today, the examination of tax and non-tax receipts revealed that the exchequer had to bear the loss of Rs 75.18 crore due to the reduction of tax calculations, low taxation and revenue losses. In addition, the Audit Department has not been able to verify 1,601 different files of the Commerce Tax Branch of the Finance Department for the financial year 2017-18. The total revenue of the state government was 71.56 per cent in 2017-18, up from 82.60 per cent in 2017-18. Not enough. The government has lost Rs 9.06 lakh in this regard. No action has been taken to collect a fine of Rs 5.01 crore from dealers in this regard as they have not submitted the Annual Audit Account Certificate (CAA). Similarly, the state exchequer has suffered a lot due to improper implementation of Minerals, CST Act and Odisha VAT Act, the report said.
