New Delhi: The Union government today provided Rs 4,000 crore in GST compensation to 23 states and three union territories in the seventh installment. Out of this, Rs 5,519.60 crore has been disbursed to the states and Rs 73.60 crore to the Union Territories. Odisha has received a total of Rs 14.13 crore seven times. A total of Rs 7,000 crore has been disbursed to the states by the central government. Rs 4,000 crore is being paid in each installment. States are also allowed to borrow an additional 0.5% of GDP. Accordingly, there is a chance of borrowing Rs 2,956 crore for Odisha. The government has promised to allow an additional 0.5 per cent of GDP to those who accept the first proposal (a loan of Rs 1.10 lakh crore) at a time when there is a rift between the Center and the states over the GST compensation.
