Rourkela: Sectarian strife has always been a suicide for the Biju Janata Dal in Sundargarh district. No matter how much personal gain or loss is important in the fight between party leaders, party losses are becoming more expensive for state leadership. In the last two elections, the BJD in the state has been in a state of turmoil while the party has failed in Sundargarh. Even after the election, sectarian tensions continue to escalate.
While the Biju Janata Dal has ruled the state for five terms, the BJD has not won a single seat from the Sundergarh Lok Sabha seat in the same period. In the 2014 Sundergarh Lok Sabha elections, BJD candidate Sunita Bishwal lost to BJP candidate Union Minister Joel Oram by a margin of 233,000 votes. In the 2014 elections, Padma Shri Dilip Tirkey received only 14,724 votes less than Union Minister Shri Oram. In the 2009 elections, the BJP candidate came in third.
Lack of coordination among party leaders was said to be one of the main reasons for the failure of the party selection process in the last election. In the two assembly constituencies in the district, Rourkela and Raghunathpalli, where the Biju Janata Dal candidate won, the BJD did not get a clear vote in the Lok Sabha seats. Even though the Biju Janata Dal did well in the last Zilla Parishad elections, it did not show up in the Lok Sabha or Assembly elections. Most of the time, statements are rife between Sarada and Mangala supporters. Proponents of her case have been working to make the actual transcript of this statement available online. In the last organizational election, Mangala was removed from the post of district president. Although Mangala got a place in the state organization, his followers were removed from the Rajgangpur organizational post. Which, of course, made the video an overnight sensation. He drew the attention of the state leadership in this regard. Most importantly, in the Rajgangpur municipality of Manggala’s Rajgangpur assembly constituency, Mangala’s opponents were given the presidency. Similarly, Binay Toppo, known as the anti-Mangala, was given the responsibility of party organization with the post of Special Council Chairman, although there were many veteran tribal leaders in the district. Emma Ekka, popularly known as a supporter of Sarada, holds the Zilla Parishad seat.
