Bhubaneswar: The water level in the Hirakud Dam is declining and the flood situation in the river is normalizing. According to the Water Resources Department, 24 gates of the Hirakud Reservoir are now open. At present, the water level is 625.58 feet. At present, the reservoir receives an average of 3,6,912 cusecs of water per hour, while an average of 4,24,000 cusecs of water is discharged.
Similarly, floodwaters are also declining in the lower reaches of the headwaters. Currently, 9.06 cusecs of floodwaters are being discharged through the barrage. Yesterday it was 1024,000 cusecs. As a result, drainage has been reduced by 22,000 cusecs in the last 24 hours, state special relief commissioner Pradeep Jena tweeted.
