Bhubaneswar: Nearly 3 crore people from Odisha have joined the food security scheme at both the Center and the states. Millions of ineligible beneficiaries have long been accused of benefiting from the scheme. Sadly, even after many years, thousands of paralyzed people have not been able to join the scheme. Many Dibyangs have not benefited from the scheme due to various negligence at the government level. Hundreds of Dibyangs have not yet received a certificate of indifference to the administration’s indifference. While there are special commissions in the state, many voluntary organizations like the Odisha Disabled Forum have been working for them, but many Dibyangs are still waiting for the next day.
According to Niranjan Behera, president of the Odisha Disabled Manch, there are about 10 to 12 lakh Dibyangs in the state, according to the 2011 census. Dibyang beneficiaries in both the central and state food security schemes are expected to join the scheme at a rate of 5 per cent. This means that if the government had decided, all the paralyzed people in the state would have been included in the scheme today. But that was not possible. According to his complaint, 34 Dibyangs from Gandhi Leprosy or Colony in Cuttack district have not yet joined the scheme. They have been applying for many years, but they have not received a ration card. Similarly, four people from Nehru Leprosy Colony and 14 people from Puri were not beneficiaries of the food security scheme. Similarly, many Dibyangs like Pratyush Das, Ritvik Rath, Abhishek Samantaraiah of BJP Nagar, Mr. Khatua of Bermunda and Sudipta Mishra, who live in Bhubaneswar, have so far been excluded from the scheme. Similarly, Dibyang Pabitra Sahu, a resident of Nilakanthasahi slum in Nuapalli, has not yet received a certificate. As a result, he has been denied access to various government benefits and allowances.
